    I WANT...DECEMBER.
The past few days were sent to me from h.... Well, I won't go that far. Aside from my computer taking an unscheduled day off yesterday, The Moody Blues's "December," their first album in around three years, was released. It's a Christmas album, and that's a big first for them. Unfortunately, I ordered my copy from Tower, and it hasn't yet arrived. Not that I expected it to...I've just become a bit depressed since all the other "hardcore" fans have it already, you see. This is not a good thing to happen to someone obsessed with The Moodies. I would have gone off to a music store and gotten one, since I need 2 copies anyway, but this pathetic little town has a grand total of ONE music store now. It was a mistake for me to check the band message boards, too--nearly everyone has the album. To make matters worse, today, even more than before, the half-minute's worth of "Don't Need a Reindeer" that I previewed on moviesmusicandmore.com is stubbornly stuck in my head. As much as I'd love to hear the whole blasted song, I can't, even though it's "out there somewhere" (bad Moody Blues pun). I think I'll talk about other bands now, to take my mind of my lack of "December"-ness.
Number 2 on my list of favourite bands is The Beatles--who I've listened to ever since I was literally a year old. Next is The Monkees, who I discovered a bit later through reruns of their TV show (you know the one--they lived in that little beach house). I also like Simon and Garfunkel...and recently I've been getting into Tom Petty again, but Elvis Costello has succeeded in pushing him aside. For the past few days I've been listening to his album "Blood and Chocolate" and I've determined a few things. 1) He is a brilliant lyricist. This means a lot coming from someone whose favourite lyrics are poetic, dreamy love songs by people like Justin Hayward (Moody Blues lead singer, for those unenlightened people out there). 2) I was really missing out on some good music before I got this album. All I knew of Elvis Costello before was "Every Day I Write the Book" and a few obvious others. (Note: this is all strictly my opinion, as I'm certainly no Elvis expert. I'm still just a novice here.) So far I'm being particularly drawn to "Blue Chair," "Home is Anywhere you Hang Your Head," "I Want You," "Uncomplicated," and "Battered Old Bird" (both the slow and fast versions). I think I'll buy another of his albums when I get more money. Yeah, a lot of the songs are quirky, but that can be a very good thing. (But quirkyness is bad when it comes to blogs and their uncooperative nature.)
See? I don't even care about "December" now. Really I don't...really....
    WAH!
('scuse me while I go sulk.)

It is done. It is pretty. And I'm going to stop working on this now...because HTML is the language of evil.

I have changed the blog. It is pretty. Unfortunately, once it republishes, it will look just like dear Andrea's (without whom this would not be possible)--only blue. I'll probably have to change it again so I won't be such a pathetic little copy cat. But no others have all these fun little sidebars. (Help me!!) Ah well...

So this is a blog. I'm sure I'll be able to figure out how to use it...eventually. For anyone who cares, most of what I'll be writing about here involves one thing: The Moody Blues. If I can think of anything else, I'll be sure to tell you. Their new album, December, will be coming out on Tuesday, so I'm sure you'll be hearing about that...if I haven't given up on this blog by then.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to change the background here. I would rather it be a bit prettier than this.

    Until then...
