Happy Birthday to Ray Thomas...another former Moody Blue. (He was the flute player who retired this year...leaving a small void in every concert where his lovely voice ought to be.) Sadly when I saw them in concert, I didn't really miss him. That's Mr. Hayward's fault for writing a little song regarding not needing a reindeer.
And on a more insignificant note...why must everyone give me socks for Christmas? Do they think I have cold feet? Or a fetish for socks (which I most certainly do not)? Maybe it's the linoleum floors in the house...maybe they're afraid I'll slip and break my neck. (Actually, floors are slippier with socks on, so....)
I think staying up 'til 3 am writing has done something seriously dangerous to my mind. Why else would I be endlessly griping about socks? And when I'm not writing an actual story...I'm doing some other less serious form of writing (such as an insane parody of "Stacy's Mom"--since it insisted on coming on the radio every 5 minutes I figured it wanted some attention from me).
Well...I'm off to fold my plethora of new socks. (oh boundless joy.)

Oh, and I should probably mention this...
Happy Birthday to Mike Pinder!! (a former Moody Blue, one of the original five who helped define their "classic rock" sound through use of the Mellotron, an early version of the Moog synthesizer.)

So this is Christmas
Well, Christmas is technically over, but it feels as though it never really came. That's probably because I spent the night of Christmas...writing. Not celebrating, not opening gifts--just writing. (Is that pathetic?) I would really like to post what I'm writing here, but since I'm not writing the parts in order, I...well...can't. And I'm still listening to certain Christmas Mixes, so for me, the holiday continues.
Things that are annoying me:
1. Jessica Simpson (god help me). Every time I turn on the TV, her less-than-appealing mug is there.
2. The song "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne. Every time I turn on the TV/radio, it's playing somewhere. (But it's really not that bad a song, when you think about it...)
3. I can't see "Love Actually" until it comes out on video. (Pout, sulk, whine...)
BUT, none of that really matters because I got this:
for Christmas. (The picture, though, not the guy. sniffle...)

Cough cough
I'm sick...again. Only this time the germs were from random people milling about in the mall rather than Justin Hayward. It's a much less desirable way to catch a cold if I do say so myself. So due to this awful bloody blasted cold, instead of Christmas shopping or watching the new "Lord of the Rings" or "Love Actually" movie, I've:
1. Drooled over Johnny Depp
2. Watched TV
3. gained a new appreciation for the music of Fleetwood Mac.
Now that I'm remotely better I have to get ready for the all the many family members that are coming over. As for the ones that are here already, I really wish they would go away and not come back. Why? Because:
1. They threw out my "Entertainment Weekly" with Johnny Depp on the cover without asking me if I wanted to keep it
2. They keep making me skip "White Christmas" on the Moodies album "December" since it's a traditional song that everyone's heard before.
And I think those are enough reasons in themselves.

Oh...I'm happy now.
Been doing some net searches about Johnny and realised that the name I chose for him in a fanfic (that also includes the Moody Blues and I swear I will finish it--and my insistings of that are probably getting annoying) is actually his middle name.
I'm very pleased with my psychic abilities now. :D

Drool away! I had to steal this one from Andrea...I couldn't resist. It's just too pretty. Yes it is. Too pretty for words. (Yet I find myself babbling on about it anyway...)

I'm glad I found that blog ideas site. Now I have things to post when my mind is not functioning within acceptable parameters.
Let's celebrate...
Thursday, December 18, 2003
1. What's your favourite celebration ever?
My birthday...cos my family knows just what I like and they actually buy me Moody Blues memerobilia.
2. Where do you love to celebrate your birthday?
Umm...in my house? Preferably Monaco, tho, as I hear that's where Jus is spending his time these days. (Darn, I guess I should cancel those tickets to France!) Because...Justin needs to give me a nice present on my b-day. But I don't think I'll go into what I have in mind.
3. Do you celebrate anniversaries?
No...and I won't be celebrating Justin's wedding anniversary tomorrow, you can bet on that.
4. What other stuff do you celebrate that does not have an exact date?
Umm...nothing. Can I invent a holiday to celebrate? ..."Justin is Sexy" Day?
5. Ever celebrated anything alone?
Yeah...Justin's birthday. Got a cake and everything. (Yes, I know...it would have been a whole lot nicer with Justin there.)

No...I need a real post today...(even though the picture of Justin was pretty enough to occupy me for a while). I have nothing to say so I searched around until I found some quiz-of-the-day type site...so here goes.
Music soothe the savage beast?
Tuesday, December 16, 2003
What music do you listen to when you are...
1. Angry: whatever's in the CD player at the time...if I'm mad I'm not going to be in the mood to switch.
2. Sad: not The Moody Blues--they'll just depress me further. Probably the Monkees...or early Beatles stuff to cheer me up.
3. In a dancing mood: I'm not often in a dancing mood. (Except for that time a month ago when my friend choreographed dance moves to "Don't Need a Reindeer".)
4. In love: The Moody Blues and Justin Hayward, of course!
5. In a moving vehicle: something fast--the best Moodies driving songs are "English Sunset", "I Heard It", "Don't Need a Reindeer", and "Sitting at the Wheel" (for obvious reasons).

I wanted to post here for the past few days but nooo... Blogger wouldn't let me in. And now that I finally got in, I have no time to post. Can I cry? Please? (Justin, can I cry on your shoulder?)
Nevermind...I'll ruin the pretty coat :(

Because we can't neglect Johnny Depp...
"But why is the rum gone?" is your quote. You are overly obsessed with rum, this cannot be good for you. Oh well, the rum quote is generally the funniest quote, so...

The Last DJ
I just need to say something here...Justin Hayward is an excellent DJ. If he ever needs a day job (God forbid) I swear to you he could make a living as a disc jockey. He has that ease about him when he speaks--that conversational tone that doesn't get annoying. In fact he's charming. And who could possibly resist that smooth-as-silk English voice, anyway?
Whoever chose him to be a guest dj on New York radio two days ago was a genius. The last time he did this was in the 80's--and he hasn't lost his touch one bit. Ah..."there goes the last DJ..."

Christmas!!
I just spent the last hour holding an open-mic radio up to the computer speakers so I could record a performance of "December Snow" that Justin did several days ago. Now I have the whole thing as a bad version on tape, but I'm still happy about it anyway. It was just so pretty.
At least I have the tracks for my friend's (and my) Christmas Mix decided on...I may not use them all, but here they are (not in order, cos I have the groups all together here):
What Child is This- Moody Blues
Don't Need a Reindeer- MBs (of course)
White Christmas- MBs
In The Bleak MidWinter- MBs
A Winter's Tale- MBs
(and one of John's from December)
Wonderful Christmastime- Paul McCartney
Happy Xmas- John Lennon
Ding Dong- George Harrison
Christmastime is Here Again- Beatles
I Believe in Father Christmas- ELP
Step into Christmas- Elton John (I don't love this song but my friend wants it)
Gabriel's Message- Sting
Coventry Carol- Alsion Moyet (haven't heard it yet, but she wants it, so...)
Do They Know it's Christmas- Band Aid (I love this little song)
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas- Pretenders
Jingle Bell Rock- Hall and Oates
Riu Chiu- The Monkees (mustn't forget them)
Winter Wonderland- Eurythmics
Little St. Nick- Beach Boys
Little Drummer Boy/ Peace on Earth- Bowie and Crosby
Comfort and Joy- Simon and Garfunkel
Star Carol- S and G

I Hope You're Happy Now
The Blog ate my post. I finally drag my ailing self to the computer, and the blog eats my post. Oh, and another explanation for the title of this post--that song by Mr. Costello was in my head all freakin' day on my concert trip. It was there when I went to bed. It was there when I woke up. And for absolutely no reason. Oh, another digression--I didn't know he was in Austin Powers 2. That was an interesting surprise for me when I watched it this weekend.
Now allow me to complain about having a cold for a week...and how it's Justin Hayward's fault. Yep. He was suffering from a sore throat at the concert, and when he walked past me (twice, and quite close I might add) his germs must have wafted my way. I had a sore throat after that.
How do I know it's his fault and not my fault from idiotically standing out in the cold, trying to see the band arrive? Because I was fine standing out by the venue that afternoon. And I had to hide on the freezing, shadowy side of the building for fear that the rude caterers would throw me out for loitering. And I was fine, huddling in a concrete doorway for an hour listening to a soundcheck that was really only a recording and not even the band. Only after Mr. Hayward physically came by did I get this miserable virus. And I didn't even mind it, until it gave me a very bad fever.
But yeah. It's Justin's fault. Sure.

Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.
Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
