They say it's your Birthday...
My friend was listening to the radio and informed me a few hours ago that today is Elvis Costello's birthday. I would call myself a bad fan, but I've only been a fan for...a year? If that? At least I already knew how old he is.
Ok...I'm going to try to post some prettiness here (but not thru Boomspeed as I'm having some technical problems...grrr hiss pfft). So please let this work. **crossing fingers**
Happy 50th Birthday!

So Like Candy
This song has been in my head all day long. Especially the part that goes:
I remember the day that picture was taken
We were so happy then
But that's so like Candy
She seemed so sweet to me I was mistaken
Oh no not that again
But that's so like Candy
As a result, and this is a bit of a stretch, I keep dwelling on the good old days where a certain Mr. Hayward "seemed so sweet to me," but, "I was mistaken".
I'm gonna give it a rest now, cos a postal worker apparently stole my Entertainment Weekly with JOHNNY DEPP on the cover. And that makes me even angrier at the moment. I had to go buy a copy. Actually 2 copies, as I was feeling impetuous.
About buying things, today I also went to the veritable Last of the Music Stores in this town and bought a CD called "When I was Cruel" and 2 Johnny Depp posters--one of which is from "From Hell", where he's sitting in a bath tub. This poster was on the store's wall and I didn't notice until 10 minutes of standing right in front of it! I have no more wall space, so this one will have to go in the basement.
My poster situation is: 5 in my room, 1 in the basement (Secret Window), and 1 in the bathroom (Once Upon a Time in Mexico). You have to get creative.
Monday Madness
1. Which is more fun, kid's toys or grown-up kid's toys? (ie. Lego's vs. power tools)
If "grown-up" toys are power tools, then my answer is kids' toys. Like action figures, i.e. my Ichabod Crane action figure...
2. What's your favorite food and why? Which food is your number one weakness?
Oddly I like a lot of English food, i.e. (I'm using that abbreviation a lot today) Shepherd's pie and "bangers" (English sausages). But my #1 weakness is...I don't know, and I'm trying not to say Johnny Depp covered in chocolate sauce.
3. How many blogs/journals/diaries would you say you read?
It varies. About 3, regularly.
4. Do you feel you have an obligation to spread your religious belief system to others, or do you think religion is a private matter that everyone needs to decide for themselves?
Living in the south (i.e, Bible belt) I've had it up to here with people trying to force their beliefs onto others.
5. Did you keep a paper journal before blogging?
Yep, and still do.
6. Describe your life in 3 words.
The deep version: Obsessive, creative, stressful.
The silly version: Depp, Hayward (even tho he's not nice), Costello.
7. What was the last thing you were wrong about?
Thinking that Justin Hayward cared about the "little people".
8. What one thing would you do to help the world be a better place for all?
Have Justin Hayward hold multiple open fan gatherings in the USA, preferably close to NC.
9. Are you a dog person or a cat person?
Cat person. I have seven.
10. If you could start your own meme (And you can!), what kind of questions would you ask?
Mostly music-related stuff.

Unconscious Mutterings meme
I say ... and you think ... ?
- Server:: computer things...that hate me
- Charlotte:: biggest city nearby
- Jackson:: Mississppi
- Resentment:: Justin Hayward
- Controlling:: Justin Hayward
- Intense:: my anger at rich ppl who met Justin Hayward
- November:: Finding Neverland (that is the new release date, no?)
- Donkey:: let's not go there
- Weave:: "Each breath that we breathe/ With love we must weave" (Lodgey song)
- Satisfies:: Johnny Depp
I needed to rant about an hour ago, but blogger did not work. Now I'm calmer...well, more like numb. And not comfortably.
Right when I (despite the warnings of a friend) stupidly looked at what people were saying about Monte Carlo, guess what blared onto my stereo? "I'm Not Angry" by Elvis Costello (whose albums I've been listening to nonstop lately). Now...was he trying to help me, or push me to a state of rage? (New level of insanity--thinking a CD cares about your feelings.)
I don't like spoiled people.
Now, for my new mantra. "I do not love Elvis more than Justin.... I do not love Elvis more than Justin...." I'm on the verge of committing serious sacrilige.
I don't know what this is, but I like.
My new favorite smiley (it even has a teardrop):

A QUICK update.
I'll be back on here later today...hopefully. I have a cold and I'm going to make myself even more miserable by, later, looking at what people are saying about Monte Carlo. And meeting Justin. Things these people have all done before. You get the idea. Cos these people went to every show on the summer tour while I killed myself just getting to pathetic little Poughkeepsie. And now, they went to a luxury resort to see Justin...again.
I'll go quietly enjoy Johnny and Elvis now...sniff sniff
Oh, by the way, here's silly cover art I made for an EC mix that I stuck JH's version of "Maggie May" on the end of. (Justin...grrr)

This Pitiful discontent
I really have no reason to be so depressed this weekend. I did have to drive through the Traffic from Hell to get to a little nothing of a town yesterday-- while in Monaco, countless rich, gloating middle-aged people are going to meet, and not for the first time, a man who's been my idol for about six years. Whom I've never once met.
But whatever! I told myself I wouldn't think about that. I just had a Johnny Depp moment, too--a giant spider crawled up the wall and I screamed. So now I'm sitting so far away from the computer I can barely reach the keyboard.
Here's a meme. I haven't done one of those in a while.
a few word associations: I say...you think
book: Tom Robbins
car: driving all day to a stupid little nothing of a town
white: knuckles
smile:
lover: Don Juan DeMarco..."the greatest lover in the world"
fan: non-deserving people who are meeting a God right about now
cry: Justin Hayward
closet: junk
glasses: Elvis Costello (hee!~)
That was refreshing. Well, not really.

I Had a Birthday... I could have updated after that, but I've been lazy. Now I suppose I'm obligated to talk about my birthday...grumble.. So I'll make it full of eye candy.
So I finally saw this movie:
Not exactly one of his more, uh, good-looking roles, but still funny. Actually, Bill Murray who was in it for about 3 seconds made me laugh more than Johnny did. That's not really a good thing.
And because it was my b-day, I just had to watch my favourite:
Isn't he just gorgeous? (That sounds kind of wrong, considering the blood, but...)
And I saw:
(Nick of Time in case you can't tell... Johnny's such a pretty geek.)
AND, the day before that I saw:
(Sleep Hollow--I drove by the real one in NY!) Argh, Katrina's in the corner! (snarl snarl)
AND, most importantly, the day after, I saw:
Oh my god..."The Man who Cried"...the ending of it just about killed me, but as a GYPSY Johnny looked...geez, there's no word for it! (Excuse me as I launch into a rendition of a certain Moody Blues song.)
OK...I think that about covers my birthday. Oh, I had a custom-made Pirates of the Caribbean cake (I feel spoiled now). The problem is, I'm paying little to no attention to Justin Hayward. A certain Mr. Depp is getting most of the love. And to be totally honest which I probably shouldn't--the rest seems to be going to
So...I basically have no idea what's happening to me. :o

Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.
Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
Protest War
