Top Five on Friday
Playing along once again with Music Memoirs. This was a very fun one.
Top five songs with food or drink in the titles
The Moody Blues - Send Me No Wine
Herman's Hermits - No Milk Today
The Beatles - Savoy Truffle (throughout the song there's other candy too)
Elvis Costello - Sweet Pear
The Monkees - Tapioca Tundra (one of Mike's titles that has nothing to do with the lyrics)

Catching Up
I can't even remember when I posted here last. Things have been very...hectic. And to add to the lack of fun, I had to listen to almost the ENTIRE "Moody Bluegrass" CD (argh!) since practically everyone I know loves it--and they don't even know the Moody Blues! Presumably it's a Southern thing. The local radio station insists on playing the tracks so everyone is buying it, strangely.
I'll do this Take Me Back Tuesday meme from Music Memoirs since I missed Friday, but I'm right on time for this one.
1. Name your three favourite British bands and a song from each of them.
The Moody Blues - Legend of a Mind (A song best heard when sung by Ray Thomas, with no out-of-place southern drawl on "Timothy Leary's dead...")
The Beatles - You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
(Shall I cheat? Yes.) Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Chemistry Class
2. Name your three favourite British front men. Justin Hayward Elvis Costello (cheating?) I wouldn't be sure what to say for The Beatles--can Paul be considered a front man? Or can there be just one per band...?
3. Name three bands from the original British Invasion in the late 50's early 60's. The Beatles The Kinks The Searchers
Bonus question: Lyrically speaking, here's the song: "Sunset doesn't last all evening, a mind can blow those clouds away" That's George, of course... All Things Must Pass.
Now to get back to my hectic schedule...but first, an amusing picture, to brighten everyone's day (mostly mine).
I desperately want to be that toothbrush.

Leave me where I am, I'm Only Sleeping
Well, I wish I was, at least... The last two weeks have not been too much fun. I miss being able to have time to actually sleep.
I missed Top Five on Friday, so would it be pathetic to do it now? Yes, I think so. I'll try to stop myself.
Ordered King of America on CD the other day. It came today...yay... (Why don't I sound more enthusiastic? It must be the tiredness... or the fact that the colorized cover makes it look like Elvis is wearing blush and lipstick.)
But look... woot... Somewhere on this page of the EC Info Page, someone used my Knoxville pix to make the cover art for the bootleg. Looks OK if you don't zoom in-- my pictures always look great until you put them in the computer... then they get yucky for some odd reason...
Right now I'd like to scan about 15 Elvis pix, most of which are incredibly gorgeous... including one that I'd only formerly seen on the cruel Musicpictures site, with an ugly watermark... BUT, the scanner isn't working! The computer says it's not plugged in, but I can clearly see that it is...
SIGH
I want to sleep. No, I want pix of Elvis. No... Hmm... Sleep, or Elvis? Well I'm not going to sleep in the middle of the day. Better work on the scanner. SIGH.

Top Five
Late again!
I'm so busy I shouldn't even be on the computer... But I'll do this meme in celebration of my 2 new Elvis Costello albums ON VINYL. The one local music store finally had things I wanted!
Imperial Bedroom.
Because it was in the front of the rack, looking beautiful, I got King of America, which I don't even have on CD yet.
Anyway. From Music Memoirs: Top 5 songs you can't get out of your head (This could be catchy songs or just your top 5 songs of the moment)
1. The Clash - Spanish Bombs (This song has really not left my head in a week!)
2. Elvis Costello - Hidden Shame (Either EC's version or Johnny Cash's...both have stuck in my head lately since I've recently heard both versions)
3. The Beatles - Come Together
4. The Moody Blues - Don't Need a Reindeer (How could I not include the catchiest song on earth?)
5. The Monkees - When Love Comes Knocking at Your Door

New Meme!
I'm trying a new (belated) meme today, and of course it is from the wonderful Music Memoirs.
10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)
Elvis Costello - Knoxville Girl (Wonderful, haunting cover of this spooky song... He did it at my concert and I GOT A COPY of the show!! Squee... I've never gotten a CD of a show I attended before)
Nick Lowe - Heart of the City (Never paid attention to this one until I read that EC's been covering it)
The Clash - Spanish Bombs (That song won't get out of my head... not that it bothers me much)
Seals & Crofts - Hummingbird (Sounds ridiculous on a restaurant sound system... laughable even)
Joni Mitchell - You Turn Me on, I'm a Radio (Also heard it at the restaurant)
Nick Lowe - I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass (I've practically been having a Nick Lowe musicfest here)
Erasure - Sometimes (Realised that I really like this song... and then the music video came on last night, to top it all off)
Elvis Costello - Favourite Hour (I learned how to play it on the piano)
Duran Duran - Electric Barbarella (Another one stuck in my head)
Nick Lowe - 36 Inches High (freaky song.. or so it seems to me upon first listen)
What picture sums up my weekend? To be honest, probably this...

Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.
Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
Protest War
(feeling a little ambitious, are we?)
