Top Five on Friday
Music Memoirs has a very seasonal meme this week!
Top 5 Spooky (Halloweenie-type) Songs:
Justin Hayward - Something Evil, Something Dangerous (off the soundtrack of a bad horror movie, no less!)
Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London
Ramones - Pet Sematary
Elvis Costello - Shallow Grave
Rocky Horror Picture Show - Time Warp
I know far too many old novelty Halloween songs, but I didn't include any of them here. I went to a Halloween carnival-type thing the other night, BTW, but my #2 and #5 songs in the meme were about the only spooky songs they played. (But I did enjoy hearing "Rock the Casbah" while riding amusement park rides I'm probably too old for.)

Blog Anniversary again!
Yes, I just realized that it's the 2nd (I think) anniversary of my blog. Or close to it, at least. I haven't been updating much lately because I've been sick (again) with an unpleasant 102 degree fever. I think I'm a magnet for diseases.
So I'm just going to celebrate by doing a meme: another late Top Five on Friday from Music Memoirs.
Top 5 bands/artists that you can't get enough of and a song and/or album by each that you'd recommend to your fellow meme-ers.
1. Elvis Costello Blood and Chocolate (my first EC album, which I bought around the time of starting this blog, actually)
2. The Moody Blues Strange Times (I almost chose an older album, but this one is probably underappreciated.)
3. Paul McCartney Chaos and Creation in the Backyard (because it really grows on you)
4. Nick Lowe Rose of England (because it's my fave so far, even though I don't have nearly all of his records)
5. The Clash London Calling
***
On the subject of the Moody Blues, I saw a box set of 3 of their older albums in the store the other day. They've apparently been remastered by Justin Hayward himself. Compared to the vinyl versions, the original CD versions I have of these albums are not great, so I'd love this box set. But I can't afford it.
Why?
Because I wasted my money on that "Costello & Nieve" box set. I was ripped off! Yeah, some people are the internet are just so considerate, aren't they. Maybe I'll just try to buy separately the 3 of the 5 disks I don't have. I don't know. I hope I can find them cheap, because the large sum I spent on the set is NOT COMING BACK.
I've not been having the best week. But Happy Blog Anniversary anyway...

Top Five Meme (don't worry...scroll down...it's there)
It's late, I'm tired, this has been another less than great week, but I'm going to do this meme now before I fall asleep at this computer. (Meme brought to you by Music Memoirs.)
Before I do that, though, I'm going to wish a Happy Birthday to none other than Justin Hayward.

Oh, on a completely unrelated side note, I was talking to someone today and the subject of Nick Lowe came up. I thought I'd show off and be the big Nick Lowe fan, but he asks, "Do you have Labour of Lust, and Jesus of Cool, and Pure Pop for Now People?" Me: "Um...no." (But I do have the first one, idiot that I am. I've even listened to it, too!)

OK...right. That meme. Top 5 "Crying" songs (Interpret as you wish...):
Roy Orbison - Crying
Elvis Costello - Town Cryer
The Beatles - I'll Cry Instead
? and the Mysterians - 96 Tears
George Harrison (The Beatles) - While My Guitar Gently Weeps
(I think EC also used to do a medly of Tracks of My Tears/Tears of a Clown/No More Tearstained Makeup. And of course Justin did Tracks of My Tears as well.)

Top Five on Friday
Another dose of Music Memoirs to brighten up my otherwise depressing week.
Top 5 Silly Song Titles:
The Police - De do do do, de da da da
Elvis Costello - Honey Are You Straight or Are You Blind (I've been using this one a lot lately!)
The Monkees - Your Auntie Grizelda
Paul McCartney - Monkberry Moon Delight
Roger Miller - Dang Me
Too tired to do the bonus "Silly Album Titles," but this was still pretty fun.

Take Me Back Tuesday
Last week was insane, so I missed Friday's meme from Music Memoirs and I'm too ashamed to do it this late. So I'm just going to do today's.
In honour of our very own Music Whore's new job.... It's all about work and anything work related.
1. Name three songs about working. Welcome to the Working Week - Elvis Costello Working for the Weekend - Loverboy Career Opportunities - The Clash (Bonus: Working Girl - The Members)
2. Name three artists with work related names. Men At Work UB40 The Waitresses
3. Name three albums with work or work related words in the title. A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles Employment - Kaiser Chiefs Dad Loves His Work - James Taylor

Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.
Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
Protest War
(feeling a little ambitious, are we?)
