Take Me Back Tuesday and Random 10 Memes

I keep missing these memes from Music Memoirs so I'm going to do 2 at once here.

Take Me Back Tuesday - Week 68

Name at least 2 songs with days of the week in the title:

The Monkees - Pleasant Valley Sunday

The Moody Blues - Tuesday Afternoon

Name at least 2 songs about the weekend:

    Herman's Hermits - Saturday's Child

The Moody Blues - Here Comes the Weekend

Name at least 2 songs with months of the year in the title:

The Moody Blues - December Snow

Simon & Garfunkel - April Come She Will

(Those Moodies really like using days and months....)

    Random 10 - Week 52

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did):

Nick Lowe - Man of a Fool

Nick Lowe - Chicken and Feathers

Nick Lowe - Saint Beneath the Paint

    The Pogues - Sayonara

    The Pogues - Transmetropolitan

Shane MacGowan & the Popes - Donegal Express

The Nips (Shane MacGowan) - Gabrielle (Practically my new favorite here... Such a catchy little pop song... everyone in the world should be forced to listen to it so they can get it stuck in *their* heads!)

Elvis Costello - The Birds Will Still Be Singing

    Diana Krall - Popsicle Toes

Diana Krall - The Best Thing for You

I was in a restaurant this weekend and recognized Diana's voice over the sound system... Later I googled some of the words and found out that it was indeed her. Hence the last song on the list. Actually, I really do like it. I'm afraid I might have to buy another album of hers soon, the way this is going!

    Anyway...a picture:

The Pogues, since I probably listened to them the most... Actually I probably heard Nick Lowe the most.... Anyway, Shane's a little cutie pie in this photo, so I don't care.

    Siggghhhhhhh

It's been more than a month since my Pogues concert and, well, I miss it. I miss the band. I miss New York. I miss all the fun things I did there, like seeing the Beatles' Shea Stadium jackets at the Hard Rock Cafe (I took pictures there, but only just dropped them off to be developed today).

I feel blue today. I want to go on my trip all over again.

My few joys today consisted of looking at pretty pictures (some were Moody Blues pics, shockingly enough). Of course then I had to see this on a website and get insanely jealous:

I want a backstage pass and an autograph. I want to be kissed by Shane MacGowan.

    Argghhhh

    Top Five on Friday

I've been really slack with this blog lately. Slack with all things computer-related, really. But this was another less than pleasant week.

But now to have a little fun with Music Memoirs.

Top 5 Songs And/Or Albums That Get You Going:
(I'll interpret this as songs that give me energy... But just songs... no time to think of albums too)

The Pogues - If I Should Fall From Grace with God

The Clash - Police on My Back (one of the most exciting songs ever... as opposed to the rest of Sandinista)

Elvis Costello - Let Them All Talk

    The Beatles - Help

The Jam - Down in the Tube Station at Midnight

Other things that get me going... Pretty pictures:

    Amen

After having dealt with people like this recently, I have to say, Amen, Elvis.

Elvis Costello at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame:

'I feel very lucky and very proud that music jumped to
the aid of New Orleans back in September...But it's a
drop in the bucket for what is needed. There is a lot
of things that I could say. I could say something like
we are fighting the wrong wars in the wrong countries
and not dealing with the people here that are living
in this country that are not living right. You could
call to account the people who have the audacity to
blaspheme and say that Katrina was a judgment of God
on the city of New Orleans. This is absolute nonsense
because the devastation that followed Katrina was
    man-made, as we now know
    .'
