Seeing EC again
I don't even want to tell you how many times I've seen Elvis Costello in concert. It's embarrassing, how obsessive I can be.
Tomorrow he's playing in my backyard, practically. Less than an hour away. That's unheard-of for any musician who's as famous as EC is. His pal Emmylou Harris has-- it was this same festival, in fact-- but that's about it.
A friend is coming along-- a friend who doesn't like Elvis, or any sort of music that I like. I'm a little worried about that. Tensions may be running high anyway due to the open-air, bring your own lawnchair festival format of this thing. I'm already guaranteed to be miles away from the stage, since I can't afford to get into the big "reserved" front section (which requires buying a $200-some 4-day pass) and my friend may have to put up with me whingeing about that.
On a side note, completely unrelated to this, I hate Heather Mills. I'm glad she was voted off Dancing with the Stars. The only problem is, she's realized that Americans are stupider than English people, and a lot of them have been sucked in: they love her now. She's been able to manipulate quite a few Americans, and the worst part of that is, it means she may never leave. ACK!

Late Take Me Back Tuesday
From the ladies at Music Memoirs
A bit of song association...I'm going to give you a some words and you tell us what song best describes them.
The weather: The Moody Blues – The Actor (That song always reminds me of rain. Weird, I know. I’m sorry, but it just does.)
Your state of mind: The Beatles – Slow Down (I wish I could.)
Cheese: Terry Jacks – Seasons in the Sun
Wine: The Moody Blues – Send Me No Wine
Sports: The Pogues – Jack’s Heroes (Odd little song about football. Or as they call it stateside, soccer.)
Spring: The Moody Blues – Minstrel’s Song
Road Trip: The Traveling Wilburys – End of the Line (This was on a CD I had for a road trip.)
Radio: Elvis Costello – Radio Silence
Yawn: The Nips (Shane MacGowan’s old band) – Stavordale Road N5 (Contains the line “yawn yawn,” for some reason unknown to me)
Your favorite movie: The Beatles – Help! (from the movie of the same title)
TV: The Rembrandts – I’ll Be There For You (Theme song to Friends)
A lot of Moodies in there. And yet I haven’t even been listening to them.

Top Five on Friday
From Music Memoirs this week...
Top five cheesiest and / or worst lyrics ever written?:
Terry Jacks - Seasons in the Sun (We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun- yecch!)
The Buoys - Timothy I can't even type these lyrics. Suffice it to say, this song is about cannibalism..
Bobby Goldsboro - Honey
Joan Osborne - What if God Was One of Us
Black-Eyed Peas - My Humps (Some other people have used this song in their answers. I had to as well, because, put simply, this song makes me want to hurl. That's how much I hate it and the group responsible for it.)

Top 5 Meme
From Music Memoirs
Top five songs that are track # 5 on the album:
Elvis Costello - Get Happy!! - King Horse
The Pogues- Rum Sodomy & the Lash - A Pair of Brown Eyes (great song, one that made me love this band. Plus, the video has Elvis Costello looking sleazy, pulling on a chest expander!)
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper - Fixing a Hole
Herman's Hermits - There's a Kind of Hush All Over the World - Dandy
Nick Lowe - Labour of Lust - You Make Me
My choice of artist is as predictable as ever.

I'm "it"
I was tagged by Andrea to do this meme:
Five things you've never revealed on your blog, and then tag five people!
(I'm not going to tag 5 people cos I'm too lazy to pick 5 that haven't done this)
1. Stole this answer from Andrea... I too took ballet as a kid, and it was one of the most unpleasant experiences that I can remember.
2. I have a cousin who's an actress in Hollywood.
3. I won in the Science Fair about 2 times in elementary school. And I don't like science.
4. My grandfather was at Pearl Harbor.
5. I don't really love U2. In fact, I hardly even like them. This shocks and horrifies certain members of my family, who love U2 and think "One" is the most touching song ever written. I mean, the song is fine, but I don't have a religious experience every time it comes on. I'm obsessed with Irish music, and Irish people too, for that matter, but U2 don't really do it for me. I don't know why.

Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.
Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
Protest War
(feeling a little ambitious, are we?)
