Just Another Random Post
Ok. Two random things:
~I should say this in case the post about getting my first wisdom tooth pulled scared anyone. Yes, it was a complete nightmare, and I really found myself musing that that must be what hell is like. But if you ever have to get one removed, don't completely freak out-- the second time was not nearly as bad. Ok, it was bad, but not the complete and utter nightmare that the first one was.
Just make sure you have a good dentist. I had a different dentist for the second wisdom tooth, who was very surprised when I told him that the first extraction took an hour. When he found out that it was the new woman dentist who had done it, he said to his assistant, "Oh, I see. Well, you know how she is with her extractions."
Apparently I got the world's worst dentist to pull the first one. The second time didn't take nearly as long.
~Now for my odd Beatles dream. I had a dream the other night that creeped me out. Normally when I dream about celebrities they don't talk or behave at all like they would in real life. This one, however, was different.
I was at a bookstore in this dream, and Paul McCartney was playing some sort of show. This was the present day version of Paul. I was standing there watching, and when I turned around I saw that John and George were standing behind me. They were quite young, like from the Hamburg era. I said, joyfully, "You're here!"
John said, in a very John-like tone of voice, "Yeah, but so are you."
And that was the whole dream. It doesn't sound like much, but it seemed very very creepy to me when I woke up.

Top 5 on Friday
Brought to you by Music Memoirs
Top 5 Nighttime songs (songs about evening or things related to the evening):
Elvis Costello - Night Rally
The Moody Blues - Twilight Time
Echo & the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
Patti Smith - Because the Night
Paul McCartney - Dance Tonight (Cheating? It's not really about the night, it just has "tonight" in the title. But I love this song!) edit: Macca has other ones that would be better: C Moon, Monkberry Moon Delight, etc. I feel stupid.

Top 5 on Friday Meme
From Music Memoirs.
I'm up a day late, because yesterday I unexpectedly had my other wisdom tooth pulled. More painkillers for me... (What painkillers, you ask? Think Hugh Laurie's character on "House"!)
Top 5 Musical Collaborations (songs, albums) it can be a mixture of both:
Elvis Costello & Paul McCartney, or as the boot calls it, "The McCartney/MacManus Collaboration." The songs on "Flowers in the Dirt" are great, but I love the boot as well.
Shane MacGowan & Sinead O'Connor - Haunted. I don't love Sinead but her voice sounds great on this song.
Peter Gabriel & Joni Mitchell - My Secret Place
John Lennon & David Bowie - Fame
Kirsty MacColl... It's hard to pick just one for her. There's the obvious Pogues collaboration, "Fairytale of New York," and the lesser known one, "Miss Otis Regrets/ Just One of Those Things" for the Red Hot and Blue charity album. But she also did some great songs with Billy Bragg, like "New England" or "Darling Let's Have Another Baby."

Say it with me.. "ARGH!"
If you remember, I had my wisdom tooth yanked out removed about a month ago. I have to go back to the dentist tomorrow to have the other one looked at, because it's broken much like the first one was.
I pray that they won't decide to remove it.
Then again, tomorrow is Friday the 13th.
Not that I ever have good luck when I go to the dentist.
PS: Nick Lowe, if you're reading this... (because I know how much celebrities like to stumble across my blog and read about my wisdom teeth... Do you sense the sarcasm?) Get your cute self down here and play a concert close enough for me to go and see you. (And then maybe I'll buy your album. So there.)
(Ok, well, I'd buy the new album anyway if I had the money.)

Beatle Days There were 3 noteworthy days this week... Independence Day (the 4th), the Day John Met Paul (the6th), and Ringo's b-day (today, July 7th). I happen to know these things because I'm obsessed. From time to time I actually remember specific dates like those last two. It's a scary thing. So, in honor of these "holidays," some eye candy....
I have to acknowledge Ringo's b-day because 1) I'm actually online and have a moment to do so and 2) He was my fave Beatle when I was an infant.
Another noteworthy thing: I saw, with my own eyes, St Peter's church where John and Paul met-- and I saw Ringo's birthplace--
both for 2 seconds through the rain out the window of a moving vehicle.
The saddest part is that it thrilled me anyway.

Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.
Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
Protest War
(feeling a little ambitious, are we?)
