Tuesday Tunes: Week 49
From Music Memoirs
You've seen them live: A list of everyone? I don't know if I can do that. It's a long list. So here are the most memorable ones:
The Monkees (and it's only 4 more days til I see Davy Jones again!!) The Moody Blues (I don't know how many times... 5?) Bob Dylan Paul McCartney (3 times) Elvis Costello (...8 times? OMG, I hadn't even realized that.) Emmylou Harris (with Elvis Costello) The Pogues (4 times) BibleCode Sundays (Elvis's little brother's band) Billy Bragg The Tossers, Murder by Death, William Elliot Whitmore, The 88, Ollin, the Dropkick Murphys (all with the Pogues) The Kaiser Chiefs Nick Lowe Carbon/Silicon The Nips Ringo Starr & the All Starr Band (Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright)
Am I forgetting anyone important?
Tell us the following: The best artist you've seen perform live and the worst: (from a musical standpoint) Best: That's an impossible question. Elvis Costello's never done a bad show. Paul McCartney's always pretty great. Nick Lowe blew me away this April. I just can't give a definitive answer!
Worst: Sitting through some of the opening acts? That would probably be it, because not all opening bands are very good at all. There was a band that opened for the Pogues that seriously annoyed me, and I didn't even list them up there because I can't remember their name. Oh, I forgot another one: a band called The Night Marchers, who are from LA, I think. The crowd loved them, for some reason, but I'm sorry - I hated them.
The concert with the worst audience: Either Elvis Costello & Emmylou Harris in NYC 2005 (a guy spilled beer down the back of my leg, and the crowd was just obnoxious), or The Pogues 2007 (a guy dressed as Santa Claus, drunkenly pushing and falling into people in the crowd? No thanks).
The most expensive concert and the least expensive: Most expensive: Ringo Starr. Least: Carbon/Silicon (that's Mick Jones of the Clash and Tony James of Sigue Sigue Sputnik) or Nick Lowe. I paid about $15 for those, which is ironic since they were two of the best concerts I've ever been to.

Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.
Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
Protest War
(feeling a little ambitious, are we?)
